Techniquest

This Wednesday we made a trip to Techniquest Glyndwr where we did a course on CSI or Crime Scene Investigation.

The first part of the course was all about fingerprints, the plot was that the head of Techniquest had been murdered and we had to solve the murder by looking for fingerprints, but before we could do that we learnt all about fingerprints. Did you know there are three types of fingerprint patterns: Loops making up 60% of the population, Whorls make up 35% percent and Arches 5%. There were two suspects Dan and Aled and we had to find out which one had committed the murder, I won't spoil who did it in case you want to go.

The second part of the course was that a teddy given to Lord and Lady Landaff by the royal family had been stolen and we had to use the evidence given to us to find out who had done it, it was easy anyway the Butler always does it...only joking it wasn't him this time. I had an excellent day and would highly recommend it to any one, there is a link here.

Afterwards there was a load of other activities you could do, my favourite was the mirror maze. I tried to run through it as fast as I could and slammed into one of the mirrors at break neck speed. It hurt. A lot.

Peppermint Patties

A few days ago I rediscovered a you-tuber called TodsKitchen and found a brilliant quick recipe called  Peppermint Patties.

They were relatively easy to make but it was hard to get the right consistency for rolling into shape. They tasted great and when dipped in chocolate tasted exquisite.

BIRTHDAY

27 August 2014 MY BIRTHDAY!!!

I had a brilliant birthday day with my family and mates

In the morning I had my presents from my parents, this consisted of in my opinion one of the best board games of all time Carcassonne which is a tile based board game.Off my brother I got the Bear Grylls Autobiography Blood Sweat and Tears and also a worst case scenarios DVD.

In the afternoon my dad some how talked me into going Go-Karting and so I went with my mate brother and dad on the condition that my dad would not zoom passed me at 40 mph. 15 minutes of Go-Karting later,as I climbed out of the Go-Kart I felt nervous being in the same car as my dad as he was still in go-Karting mode and every body in the car had to tell him to slow down and stop trying to overtake everybody in a people carrier. We then went to KFC and stuffed our faces full of chicken it tasted great. I had a brilliant birthday and in the end thanked my dad for taking me all though I still think my dad enjoyed it more than anybody else!!!

Gawthorpe Hall

The place we went to was called Gawthorpe Hall and was built before the English civil war, it was dedicated to King George but at the time of war the occupants fought for parliament. There were three activities to do, how to load a musket, re-enact a battle that took place and also how to make a sweet purse.

Loading the musket was a lot more difficult then I expected because you had to put in your ammo and ram it home, light the fuse and only then could you fire.

Here we were re-enacting a battle between the Roundheads and the cavaliers.

Department 19 Book Review

This book has to be in my top five, because the story is so compelling but lets start of at the beginning with the writing below the title it says: They don't exist but they save your life every day. I found this book interesting immediately just because of this writing. The story to this book was so brilliant that I could literally could not put this book down, it was glued to my hands! The story of this book is about a boy who's name is Jamie and about how he is haunted by the death of his father and also by the purple visored men who shot him.

Our week in Scotland . . . (WAS AWESOME!)

When we went to Scotland we stayed in a place called Tigh Mohr in the Trossachs. It was a beautiful manor house backed by a stunning Loch and was once visited by Queen Victoria, and I can understand why, it was an absolutely brilliant location and here is a list of some of the things there.
There was a games room, pool, DVD library, exercise room, Crown green bowling and trout fishing.
My favourite part was that they had a fly fishing pond, I caught two fish my dad caught five and my brother caught . . . nothing but he must have had the  biggest fish in the entire Loch!!! Because it snapped off the line. We also climbed Ben A'an a hill in Scotland and when we got to the top the view was amazing, we could see a mountain in the distance with snow on! In all it was an amazing week I will remember for the rest of my life.

Techniquest

This Wednesday we went to a place in Wrexham called Techniquest, where you get to program your own robot, it was relatively hard but a lot of fun.You basically had to plug the robot in to the laptop then type in the commands, unplug it press a button on the robot and it would follow your instructions. Afterwards we went into these rooms with interactive activity's, which were awesome, my favourite was a room full of mirrors and you had to try and find a way through, it was really hard but hilarious because you had no idea which way to go! THIS IS AN AWESOME PLACE TO VISIT GO THERE!!!
